Adam Swinney

Adam Swinney is a PhD student whose research focuses on characterizing material mixing and microstructural features in components repaired and manufactured through Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) using X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT). He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Baylor University, where he also worked as an undergraduate researcher in the Materials Testing and Characterization Core (MTACC) at the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC). Through research and machine shop experience involving polymers, ceramics, composites, and metals, he has developed expertise in the non-destructive evaluation of advanced material systems. His current work supports the characterization and analysis of materials and experiments conducted within the Point-of-Need Innovations Center (PONI). Outside of research, Adam enjoys building computers, gaming, cooking, reading, 3D printing, gardening, writing, and playing Dungeons & Dragons.
