Liam Stewart

I'm a first year Ph.D. student in Materials Science and Engineering, where I focus on advancing solid-state additive manufacturing for aerospace and other applications. My research centers on Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) using a range of aerospace-grade materials, including aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys, and titanium alloys. I’m working on scaling the AFSD process to enable the fabrication of large-format structural components, with an emphasis on optimizing bonding quality, microstructural integrity, and mechanical performance.
